Term 4- week 3 - 30th October 2025
Principal's Report
Dear Bothwell Families
Welcome back to Term 4, 2025. Our days are getting longer; the sun is starting (ever so slowly) to come out, and our students are another productive term.
We have started off the term in full swing, with plenty of exciting learning experiences, excursions and events planned. These opportunities can only happen through the hard work and dedication of our entire staff team, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for the planning and preparation that goes into these events. Our teachers have recently shared Learning Overview Letters via Seesaw with a list of key dates for Term 4 events, but families are also encouraged to please regularly check the school calendar.
A reminder that now we are in Term 4, hats are to be worn for outdoor learning activities and play. Students who are not wearing a hat will be asked to remain in shaded areas. Please ensure that your young person has a hat packed away in their school bag and that their hat is labelled. Class teachers can support our youngest learners if you wish for them to have a ‘spare hat’ at school in their bag box.
We learnt at the end of last term that we were successful in our application to be involved in the Food Matters Hot Lunch program for 2026. Soon, families will receive information about the program and how to indicate participation for your child. Our Hot lunch days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. At this stage the program funding is for Kindergarten to Year 6 students but there has been a proposal put forward to include high school students in district schools. Please keep an eye out for important information that will be sent home in the next few weeks. We are currently working with the Food Matters team to upgrade our Home Economics Space for program delivery. This is very exciting for our students and our families. Participating students will have access to two free hot lunch meals per week next year.
In 1985 a time capsule was created, and it has been sealed and displayed for all of this time. The time capsule was put together by the 3-4 class with their then teacher Mr Leigh James. This term our 3-5’s, with the support from Ms Pennicott will co-ordinate the opening of the capsule and they will also co-ordinate what goes into the capsule to once again be sealed and to keep the tradition going. There will be an opportunity for time capsule contents from 1985 to be displayed and we look forward to sharing more with our community.
We are in the process of class creation and finalising our staffing for 2026 and I ask families to please keep us updated around any changes in enrolment. If your child is not anticipated to be learning with us in 2026, please let the school know. We have a projected enrolment of 13 Kindergarten students for 2026 which is wonderful news for our community. In our next newsletter, information will be shared around class groupings for 2026.
Finally, with a thank you to the School Association, our community can now make a donation to our recycling campaign through the recycle rewards scheme. Some instructions are as follows:
- Download the Recycle Rewards App
- Register/ sign in- Search for ‘Bothwell’s Baa-tle Against Waste!’ And select as donor.
- Visit the recycling depot (outside ‘Bothwell Garage’)
- Scan your app barcode
- Deposit those bottles and cans
- Donate!
We will soon have recycle bins at school and our student volunteers will take any recyclables to the recycling station when full.
Our School Association will also be sponsoring four afterschool soccer sessions this term. Please refer to the advertisement at the end of the newsletter.
Kind Regards

Kinder/ Prep
We have settled back into routines and expectations in Kinder/Prep. Kinder’s have been focusing on counting to 10 and beyond and looking at before and after numbers. Prep students have continued with addition and subtraction and will move on to equal sharing and grouping.
K-2 Class
In HASS this term, the K-2's have looked at local buildings around Bothwell to identify the changes that have occurred since the 1800’s to now. We will begin exploring the weather (drought, flood, fire) and how it impacts our local places.
Miss Jones
On Tuesday, we were very lucky to have the Hobart Hurricanes visit our school to teach us some of the fundamentals of cricket. We had an excellent time practicing our throwing and batting skills which we have been using in our recess cricket games!
