Term 1- week 6- 14th March,2024.
Principal's Report
We are now well into Term One and our students are demonstrating our values of aspiration, courage, growth and respect. Next week our students from Prep to Year 10 will bring home a Progress Report with Work Habits Ratings for Attitude, Behaviour, Effort and Organisation. The Progress Reports will indicate how students have settled into the year with their learning. A reminder that our teachers are using SeeSaw App to share learning snapshots with family members.
We recently held our Bothwell Athletics Carnival. A big thank you to Mr Nichols for co-ordinating the event. It was wonderful to see all of the house spirit. Congratulations to Shannon House for their convincing win. It all came down to participation and the participation points. We look forward to our next House event. The challenge has been set for Clyde House!
Our students have participated in Clean Up Australia Day activities with a cleanup of the school. It was wonderful to see all of our students taking pride in the school and supporting each other with the clean-up.
This year, our students have the opportunity once again to participate in the Children’s University. If you would like your child to participate and forms have not yet been returned to Mrs Byers, forms are available from the Main Office. Students from Prep to Year 8 can earn points and Year 9/10 students can nominate as volunteers.
Next week our primary students will participate in the Growing Up Program. Information has been shared with families via a letter. The Growing Up Program is an age-appropriate and evidence-based program with a focus on Relationships, Sexuality and Protective Behaviours. The program aligns with the Australian Curriculum.
We are edging closer to the installation of our Angus Bull and Ram sculptures as part of the Ag Studies Building project. More information will be shared soon around an Official Launch date and opportunity for community members to tour our new building spaces.
As we are starting to share more regular community updates with families via our facebook social media channel, we will move towards monthly newsletters in Term 2 and the opportunity to have more showcases of learning for the different class groups.
Finally, I include an image of our Student Leadership Team meeting with Mrs Byers this week. The students are planning a ‘design a mascot’ competition for our two houses. The students have also been working with Mrs Doyle to plan the organisation of an Anzac Day Assembly which will be held on the first week back next term on Thursday 2nd May. Our next Celebration Assembly will be held on Thursday 28th. We look forward to seeing our families in attendance,
Kind Regards,
Erika Boas

Dear Parent/Guardian
Our School will be switching over to a new messaging platform for communicating with you.
The new platform, called EdSmart is an Australian platform which is designed to improve communication in school communities by allowing electronic messaging i.e. SMS and emails. For now, it will be used to manage absences messages i.e. you will receive a SMS or email alert if your child is absent from school requesting a response. It will also allow us to send a communication message to all parent/guardians.
The platform will, over time, be rolled out across all Tasmanian Government Schools and new features will be added.
You will receive a text message and/or an email with further details. Note, the text message sender will be a shortened version of our school’s name - Please keep an eye out for it!
Further information is available on the Department’s website

I like would like to congratulate ‘Shannon House’ on winning and thank you to everyone who participated.
Robert P (Year 9)
Our 2024 School Athletics Carnival was held with huge success thanks to excitement and exceptional participation from all students. Our school houses showed encouraging support during races, with some awesome colours worn by students showing house spirit.
Finally, thank you to our School Captains for their incredible leadership towards all younger grades throughout the day. Our School Captains really stood up as positive role models, helping us all to achieve a successful event.
Mr Nichols.
Student leaders helping out at Bagdad Carnival.
Our student leaders once again helping out. This time at Bagdad running Carnival. Mrs Byers said everyone represented out School very respectfully. Earlier in the term the students had the opportunity to support Kempton Primary School with the running of their carnival. These opportunities have helped our students gain confidence and have allowed them to put their leadership skills into practice.
